NAMI Scott County offers our FREE Signature Education Programs twice a year:

NAMI Family-to-Family

A life-changing course where families and caregivers of those with a mental illness can obtain information, understanding and insight into their loved one's illness. This 12 week course offers current information on illnesses of the brain and their treatment.  Some topics include the biology of brain disorders, medications and their side effects, strategies for handling crisis and care for the caregiver.

NAMI Peer-to- Peer

A recovery education course for consumers of mental health services.  Some of the topics covered in this 10 week empowerment course include preventing relapse, improving quality of life, protecting your own interests, skills to cope with your disease and exercises to focus and calm your thinking.

Projected start date for our Spring 2011 class is sometime in May (to be announced).

NAMI In Our Own Voice (IOOV):

A powerful anti-stigma program presented by consumers to raise awareness about the process of recovery from mental illness.  Presenters are available for area community organizations, churches, businesses, rotary clubs, campuses, etc, who are interested in learning more about mental illness and recovery (at no cost).

NAMI Scott County Public Education:
